Columbia and Ice Crystal

This photo wasa taken from the Great Nunatak: Columbia Glacier June 2004, Southcentral Alaska. The main trunk of the glacier is moving right-to-left at upwards of 4 meters per day. Although a bit difficult to see here, the ice crystal in the foreground is full of internal hexagonal melt patterns called Tindall figures.
